Ice Cream Round-up
Posted by Sarah Anderson on 10:25 AM with No comments
I know what they say about when you assume something...but I'm assuming there may be nearly daily ice cream stops. So, here's a primer of the best places at WDW for ice cream, in no particular order!
Beach Club Resort: Beaches and Cream
This has been a long-time favorite of WDW guests, and features some of the best burgers on property, in addition to delicious ice cream treats. Their most famous dish is the Kitchen Sink, a sundae made of 8 scoops of ice cream, every topping they have, and a whole can of whipped cream, literally served in a kitchen sink. They also now serve adult milkshakes, yum!

Adult Milkshakes for the win!
Epcot: L'Artisan des Glaces
Found in the France Pavilion at Epcot, L'Artisan des Glaces features a unique variety of ice cream and sorbet flavors that update seasonally. They also will make you an ice cream sandwich using their macarons as the cookie! Some of their popular ice cream flavors include mint chocolate, lemon with crispy meringue, pistachio, cinnamon with caramelized pecan, chocolate and orange, and more! Yes, they do have traditional flavors like chocolate and vanilla also.
Boardwalk Inn: Ample Hills Creamery
This new ice cream parlor, located on the Boardwalk, features very unique flavors such as Ooey Gooey Buttercake, Peppermint Pattie, and Sally Sells Seashells. They also offer a multi-flavor sampler, a great way to try a variety of fun flavors.

Ch-ch-changes!

We've added a night at our hotel now that all of our inbound airfare has been purchased. However, it's not at Port Orleans French Quarter. Our fabulous parents are taking advantage of a great discount and upgrading our hotel to Old Key West, one of Disney's Vacation Club properties. While it is part of the timeshare club, rooms can also be reserved like all of the other hotel rooms. We will have a 2-bedroom villa, which sleeps 9 people, and will give us great space to enjoy our time together. The villas include a kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, and dishwasher, and also a laundry room. I'm looking forward to enjoying coffee on the patio! Here are 2 pictures to help you familiarize yourself with the resort.
This is a sample floor plan of the 2-bedroom villas.
Here is a map of the entire Old Key West resort.
Finally, a review and pictures from someone else who enjoyed their stay in a room that will be similar to ours. A Review from someone who stayed in a 2-BR villa at Old Key West
Since the resort is themed around the Florida Keys, this blog post makes me want a margarita! So, please text Mom with the word "margarita" once you read this blog post; she wants to know that you've seen it!
